Hi, I'm a senior applying to colleges and I'm looking to attend a small liberal arts college with rigorous academics such as bates, kenyon, or hamilton. However, I want to avoid the debt that any of these school's would cause me with costs nearing $60,000 a year. Here is some information to give you an idea what my application will look like: I attend a rigorous prep school (transfered in from public in 10th grade) and have an estimated unweighted gpa of about 3.8 with my grades getting better each year until about a 4.0 senior year first semester with 3 ap's. My Sat is 2160. I am in a few clubs, but not a ton or leader of any. I am a good runner and captain of cross country and indoor and outdoor track and am being recruited by some division three programs. I have taken Ap US, Ap Gov't, Ap Psych, and Ap French, with all of my other classes such as calculus being considered "regular" as my school doesn't have honors classes. I am a white, upper-middle-class female from upstate NY, so no help with diversity there whatsoever! I have had some unique experiences such as a two week study abroad/volunteer trip in china/mongolia and feel my experience in an extremely challenging high school has prepared me well for college. What are some good schools for me to look at that meet my basic criteria that could be more affordable for me through merit while still engaging and challenging? I am currently looking at schools such as College of Wooster, St. Lawrence University, and Ursinus College. What do you think of these as options, and do you have any similar/better suggestions? Thanks!
