Just got my college acceptances and to be honest I didn't get in ANYWHERE I really wanted(waitlists+rejections..ugh). I'm not too crazy about any of these schools and needed advice as to which school would be the best for their pre-med undergrad program. The schools are:

Boston University
Fordham University
SUNY Stony Brook
Colgate University
Bucknell University

Any information would be much appreciated...

I’d probably vote for BU, Colgate, or Fordham.

BU, in my opinion, would be extremely large and impersonal. Plus, I have heard they have some grade deflation; that does not translate well for medical school. I would go with Colgate. That would probably be the best.

Since the OP is presumably already in college by now , I think we can consider y’all …just a bit late.

What’s up with the whole necrothread revival thing?

Oh wow, normally I’m good at noticing post dates!

Somebody was trying to advertise that website I bet.

BU is somewhat notorious for grade deflation. Do check their archives.
Why not Rutgers?

Among the ones you have, I would go with Colgate.

Don’t underestimate Bucknell. The education I have received during the past three years has been excellent and the Pre Med counseling that I have received here has been top notch and one on one. In the end, your education always will be what you make of it and how you approach your life goals always will be how you pace yourself. Like you, I was wait listed at a lot of places–remember, it’s not the end of the world–it’s college. Studying for a possible place in the medical profession–just like studying for med school or I guess probably studying in med school–is all about how you pace yourself. It’s all a long haul-be humble and work hard. I am a recent cancer survivor having survived one and a half years of chemotherapy treatment before Bucknell, and one and a half years of treatment as an undergraduate while a freshman and sophomore at Bucknell. Now as a junior, I have continued to be happy here as a successful Biology major, and I have had limitless research opportunities because of Bucknell’s unique size–and excellent reputation in the sciences. Maybe Bucknell does not have the prestige of other “name” institutions–but the medical alumni are loyal–and many come back to talk and share their experiences with us. I have been challenged by the course work and the professors here have a reputation for being good teachers. Bucknell was the right choice for me. I hope you’ll find a place that fits, too. Don’t underestimate all of the good things that you will learn as an undergraduate at a liberal arts school. Most of all take nothing in life for granted. Work to do your best one day at a time-and appreciate every day as another day to give something of yourself back to others. Best of Luck in your search!
