^UNC might get love from IBs in Charlotte…?

What’s the most advanced math used in IB/PE/HF?

Quantum physics.

Algebra and statistics. It depends on what you’re doing and how competent you need to be. Most people are only mediocre business people (and only hope to be) so basic arithmetic is enough. You’ll quit in 2 years and end up working in a book store anyway.

That is a ridiculous claim. You can be a fantastic business person and not need math beyond arithmetic. See: Mergers & Acquisitions Advisory Managing Directors (I don’t even think they use arithmetic – they just have their Analysts do it).

Yea, but its barely a semi-target and I’m an international student. Lose-lose situation.

IU’s Kelley School has much better recruiting than most non-ivies around…it has a special investment banking workshop program that has had 100% placement rates at IBs. I know many juniors and seniors that are in the program that are doing internships and starting full time soon at Goldman, BoA, JPM, Lincoln Int., Credit Suisse, DB, Sandler O’Neill, etc…It is an excellent school to get a IB job if you are determined and have a 3.5gpa at least…many of these ppl are ignorant of other school that are not ivy or close

How good is Northwestern for Ibanking?

I am probably going there for undergrad and majoring in Economics and want to know if I do maintain a 3.5 or better gpa, what would be my chances of landing an Ibanking job (preferably m&a)?

NU is pretty good – banks definitely recruit there. I know kids doing NYC BB internships this summer. Your chances will be as good as anyone, all else (i.e. substance of resume, networking) equal.

Northwestern is a pretty strong feeder school for banking.

I think a lot of people underrate gtown because of how much lower it’s college/business school rankings are compared to other “targets.” As someone who knows a lot of people at wall street, let me just say that they are one of the more heavily recruited schools, I can 100% affirm that they have recruiting that is AS good if not better than Cornell AEM, Northwestern, and others schools of that tier (at some schools they do better than Stern). Anyone on the WallStreetOasis will confirm this. NOTE: I’m strictly talking about NYC BB’s

I’m enrolling in Tepper at CMU for 2014, a semi-target.

How do IB’s look at CMU’s quantitative analysis program? I’m looking at the major, but it’s so competitive that I can’t really say I’ll be able to do it D=

anybody know street’s view on Villanova? how about compared to Wake forest>

Er, the BB SA lists on WSO don’t support your assertion at all.

Wharton and uchicago should be godly feeders of investment banking.

SA lists have too many variables. There are BB summer SA lists where NYU non-stern have more kids than Stern does. Does this mean Stern is more highly recruited?

EVEN SO, most BB SA lists do support me. Which BB SA list are u talking about? Which BB? The BB’s my cousin and my sister work at also have a lot of gtown representation. If you know any recruiters, talk to them, they will confirm what i said, too.
Look at this BB SA list, for example, posted by a pretty reputable poster. Later in the thread, u will note he says there should be 2 from georgetown, while there is only one stern on the list.
If you are telling me it’s not even on the tier of Stern, NU, AEM, etc., you really have NO idea what you are talking about.
This one also cites georgetown as one of the “larger feeders”

RTgrove agrees as well

I’m not saying the school is anywhere near as good as Wharton/Harvard, just that it is a good option for those who can’t get into those top tier schools

Asked this over on the GTown boards but haven’t heard a response. Is there a significant difference between going to SFS and MSB at Georgetown? Is there recruitment from both schools or are firms really looking to only recruit the business school kids?

I’m going to Princeton next year, plan on majoring in either ORFE, physics, or ChemE. Realistically, what are my chances of getting into IB? I am a hard worker and will try my best to get a high GPA, but more importantly, I am great at interviews. For any interviews that had significant weight with scholarships / programs (alumni interviews for Ivies don’t really count), I got in 100% of the time (Boys’ State, UCB Regents, and so forth)

i give you a 32.8% chance

You’re off by about 4%.

What’s better for IB, Northwestern, UMich Ross, or Cornell?
