Best universities for economics major?

I want to major in economics. Any suggestions on what the best universities and colleges would be? What schools have good economic undergrad programs?

Most schools have good undergrad econ programs. You need to figure out if you want a more quant version or more theory. Run the Supermatch engine on the left side of this page for general school recommendations. Then run the Net Price Calculators on the school web sites to see if you can afford them.

By economics faculty publishing at LACs: Williams, Wellesley, Middlebury, Wesleyan, Hamilton, Claremont McKenna, Colgate, Vassar, Holy Cross, URichmond. Of these, Williams, Wellesley and Hamilton have a promising relationship with a Harvard Business School online certificate program which will serve to diversify their curricula beyond straight economics.

Every top 20 school has good econ. MIT? check. Princeton/Yale/Harvard/Stanford/UChi/Columbia/Dartmouth/Berkeley/UCLA/Duke/Penn? Check.

Come on, now. College Confidential, like God, helps those who help themselves.

Pre-professional or pre-PhD?

For pre-PhD, look for schools where there is a greater math emphasis in economics, and good math and statistics offerings.

Maybe someday the OP will come back again.
