What oil spritzer are folks using for the air fryer? We had one from Costco years ago but found it difficult to clean and get the old oil out of. Suggestions if a good oil spritzer that can be well cleaned are welcome.
I use Pam when I cook with my air fryer. If Iām making something like fries (the sweet potatoes are the best), I just shake the potatoes in a VERY small amount of oil.
I donāt use an oil mister at all.
Well, made frozen thick pork chops in air fryer. It was OK but would have been better thawed. Made it with rice and later air-fried brussel sprouts. That was also okānot really worth the hype. Will keep experimenting. I used parchment paper that I cut holes in in the rackāitās supposed to make cleanup easier. Not sure how much difference it really makes.
You can buy parchment with holes on Amazon. Much easier than doing it yourself. They sell them in all sizes and shapes.

Is cooking frozen meat in an air fryer a thing? Iāve never heard that.
Read a recipe that said it could be done, so tried it. I definitely do NOT recommend. It was OK but would have been better if I had thawed it 1st.
Iāve used frozen meat in an instant pot but not in an air fryer.
Yup, next time will stick to instant pot frozen meat.
Ok, today made partly thawed pork loin roast in air fryer followed by zucchini spears in pork loin drippings. It was very tasty! We had no objections. It was pretty moist and had a nice crust.
This time I didnāt use any parchment and honestly donāt see any benefit of using parchment as cleaning was pretty easy with the nonstick coating on rack and bottom of the bucket.
Bumping up as some of us may have purchased an air fryer on Prime Dayā¦
Last night I tried french fries from raw potato. Great results with only like 1/2 tsp oil and some seasoning. Then I did roasted broccoli with a tad of olive oil and seasoning. 6 minutes and nicely roasted.
What I need to get the hang of is when to use higher temps (like 400) and when to use lower temps (like 350). The fries recipe told me to use lower (330?) but I ended up increasing the temp to 400 with better results.
Lower temps if maybe rewarming food? Like a slice of pizza?
And for those of you using parchmentā¦do you not have a non-stick fryer basket??
Thanks for bumping this up. Iāll be trying sweet potato fries this weekend for our inaugural dish.
I have read a lot of reviews of the particular one I bought (the Dash) that complain that the nonstick coating starts to degrade pretty quickly, rendering the basket (toxic) unusable. I was thinking to use parchment from the get-go so that I did not have to do any heavy washing of the tray in an attempt to prolong the coating.
Got it. So then is the preferred parchment the one with holes? Seems like it would be for the air flowā¦?
ALSO, do people preheat their unit before putting food in? My instructions did not mention preheatingā¦so I didnāt - didnāt seem to make a difference except maybe it took a tad longer.
I buy parchment with holes. Most recipes call for pre-heating, but I never do.
I sometimes spray with nonstick cooking spray. Iāve never used parchment paper unless a recipe specifically calls for it.
IIRC, we had an old thread with air fryer recipes. The sweet potato fries are a big hit here! Chicken wings too!
I used to have basket air fryers. They were a pain to clean and, and when heating things like chicken strips or left over pizza, the parchment made it a lot easier. Iāve passed my old air fryers onto my kids, who still use parchment when cooking.
I now have a Sur la Table air fryer with two trays. The trays are super easy to clean and I rarely use parchment anymore.
I have a basket style air fryer with nonstick coating. itās a breeze to clean. i tried using parchment but itās really wholly unneeded. I like zucchini sticks and reheated pizza.
I tried using oil spritzer but found it messy. Now I use a brush, lightly dipped in oil/marinade.
I always preheat my air fryer.
If I am using a recipe and it doesnāt specify a temperature, I default to 400 degrees.
I have a basket style air fryer (Gourmia, purchased from Costco.) Here is my tip for cleaning my air fryer: as soon as I remove what I cooked in the air fryer, I put some dishwashing liquid in the basket and add water to cover the tray. I put the basket almost all the way back into the air fryer and allow it to soak while we are eating. After dinner, cleanup is super easy with no scrubbing. Thus the non-stick coating isnāt damaged in trying to remove baked on food.
Thatās similar to how we deal with our nonstick air fryer. It works very flawlessly. Have never had to struggle to remove anything burned into air fryer.
I throw my air fryer basket in the dishwasher. For cooking I google the food plus air fryer and all sorts of wonerful things come up. Like, āboneless chicken breast lemon air fryer.ā
