My niece just gave us a new air fryer. I would love sone great suggestions of things you love making in it to try using it to produce great dishes. Thanks for any recipes, suggestions & tips.
literally - everything. broccoli, chicken wings, fried shrimp, brussell sprouts
but the best is if it has a dehydrate mode - sliced pineapple - sliced thin at 140 3-4 hours( with cinnamon)
When I got an air fryer, someone recommended this cookbook to me. I have made lots of things from this cookbook, and they are some of our all time favorites - dinners, sides and dessert. This cookbook really got me comfortable with cooking with an air fryer.

I cook almost exclusively Skinnytaste. You can check out the website air fryer recipes as well.
Everything is going in airfryer. That’s is the best kitchen appliance we ever purchased with espresso machine close second
We love ours and use it almost daily. Reheating even pizza tastes pretty good. Chicken is delicious. We also bake potatoes and sweet potatoes. Read the instructions and remember to let the smell first dissipate before actually using it. Some air fryers have a bad smell when you first use it.
How different is an air fryer from a toaster oven? Some of them look identical. Thanks.
They are VERY different. A toaster oven toasts and bakes. An air fryer is like a tiny convention oven (though not the same I think). Can cook/fry things with minimal if any oil, and quickly.
We gave our son this multi use oven - including air fryer - last year when his old toaster oven gave out and he’s been getting a lot of use out of it. It cost about $140 at Kohls last year. I just forwarded him the link above for recipes.
The Gourmia big air fryer at Costco is a gem. $50, often on sale for $40. Quiet, fast, simple and easy cleanup. I use the thing almost daily.
I air fry lots of veggies tossed in the tiniest bit of oil - brussel sprouts, green beans, broccoli, sweet pot, white pot, cauliflower. Costco’s loin lamb chops are amazing air fried, also chicken breasts.
I don’t have a stand-alone air fryer but my Cuisinart toaster oven has an air fryer setting. Seems to work well. It does have fans for convection. I air fry in it all the time. A friend just got a dedicated air fryer. I’ll compare with hers at some point and see if it’s better than mine.
There are combo air fryers that DO look like toaster ovens. But the function and use of an air fryer and a toaster oven are different.
The big question is it a typical basket air fryer or toaster oven style? We have the Instant Pot 10 in 1 toaster oven style and use it every day and air fry things we would have baked/toasted before. Reheating pizza is a favorite, but have also used it to air fry an entire half tray of homemade meatballs. Used it to air fry rice balls (again a half tray ordered for Christmas) and everyone was so surprised how crispy it made them.
Since I made my post I read a few reviews of dedicated air fryers vs the toaster ovens like my Cuisinart with air frying capabilities and they seem pretty similar. Sometimes the dedicated air fryer does it faster, but the toaster oven air fryer has more capacity. So you can air fry more French fries or whatever in the toaster oven.
I air fry all kinds of things in my Cuisinart and it works great. Gets it crispy all the way around and usually in less time than the presets or the instructions on the bag take. I like that I don’t have to have a second appliance taking up counter space too.
I’m glad to hear this. Everyone and all my kids keep telling me to get an air fryer. I am soon replacing a toaster oven that gets a lot of use and would assume get one of the combos. But I have wondered if the air fryer function on the combos was legit/worthwhile.
My daughter uses hers LOTS. Chicken and roasted vegetables seem to be a bit hit. My son and DIL oven is currently not working and they haven’t been in a hurry to replace it because they are just using their air fryer!
I really like it. I only use the big oven when I am cooking something really large. Use the toaster oven/air fryer combo pretty much every day.
The air fryer we received is a dedicated bucket style and only an air fryer. We had been using the toaster oven a lot and will now use the air fryer. The toaster oven lives under our kitchen cabinets and we didn’t want it taller, which it would be if we buy an air fryer toaster oven to replace existing toaster over ( which I had been using often).
In my experience, the Oster combination air fryer/toaster oven is not an air fryer. It has an anemic fan and barely cooks on the air fryer setting. Maybe I got a lemon.
I just read the air fryer can be used on frozen meats too, so I’m much more enthusiastic, especially now that we’ve found H’s thermapen that he rarely uses which we gifted him ages ago. It will be especially handy when cooking poultry and pork. Yay!
H and I use the thermapen for everything. It even works in finding room temp and adjusting heat areas.
I like the dough of cinnamon rolls from pillsberry that come in a tube. It really looked well with our air fryer. And also plant based chicken nuggets and breaded frozen okra. The french fries cut from raw potatoes are excellent.
