This is my first time posting so excuse my ignorance, but I’ve got a few options at my disposal. I want to major in Finance and possibly work in investment banking after I graduate. So far, I’ve been accepted to:
-University of Pittsburgh - Honors College
-St. John’s University - Honors Program ($29,000/yr scholarship)
-Penn State
-Fordham (forget it though, way too stingy with aid)
Just a disclaimer, I’m waiting for my decisions from Boston College and Lehigh University, although I don’t have much confidence in those…
And I haven’t received any of the other financial aid packages yet. At which of these would I get the best opportunities? Does anyone know of specific perks of these schools such as a free laptop, better housing, etc.?
Post again when you have the net costs figured out.
free laptop & nice dorms are terrible reasons to pick a college. First sort out the finances- what your offers are and what the implications are for you and your family. Then look at the finance department at each college- especially the courses and internship opportunities. Also look at each college as a whole: what if you get there and decide that finance isn’t for you (it happens- often)? Would you be happy to go there? are there other subjects that are strong? And finally, which one feels like a happy environment for you?
Thank you @collegemom3717 I would definitely not base an entire decision on such small things but it does help to know what you’re getting into haha. It’ll most likely come down to the financial aid packages.
@DrDingle23, Have you run the Net Price Calculators on the college websites to get a cost estimate? Unless your parents are divorced or own a business, they’re generally pretty good st giving a ballpark estimate.
