Im currently a junior and going to be a senior next year. I took the SAT twice and did not the score i wanted at all. On my junior year psat in october i got a 147 so i started studying really hard. On the march SAT i got an 1880 (520 reading, 690 math, 670 writing) i only studied reading because thats where i needed the most improvement but did math and writing every now and then. I took the june test and got a 1970 (520 reading 740 math 710 writin) i was extremely ****ed my reading score didnt even improve a single point. Its not like im a dumb kid its just i feel like im doing something wrong. I had a reading tutor between the tests and i was scoring 650s with him. My reading is ridiculously terrible compared to my other scores. Im not so sure how i should study this summer and what i need to do. Im really hoping for a 2200 (650 reading 800 math 750 writin) is it possible? Should i take the princeton review honors course?

Reading is perhaps the hardest one to improve among the three. I would find out exactly why you score a 520 by looking at the problems you got wrong. Find out exactly why you got it wrong. Why you picked the answer that wasn’t the correct one. What makes you pick it? Do you have evidence from the passage to backup your answer? Also find out exactly what type of passage you are struggle with. For example, I am terrible with novel but great with scientific passages. Also if time is a problem for you, you should try read more books and do speed reading.

I understand what you mean but i ussually only put answers if the passage clearly supports it. Im just waiting for the score report so i can take a closer look at the problem

They key is practice. Strategy is to start out taking practice tests without timing yourself on the section. Try to get perfects on the sections without rushing through or anything. Using this strategy you should be able to develop the appropriate thought process for getting the correct answer. Then add time in to the mix. When I say practice I mean around 15 or more exams (50+ reading sections). It takes some serious work. Over time you should see how in a somewhat subtle way that everything come straight from the passage (it will never be too obvious, but practice will make it much clearer).

I actually will start to not time myself and see how much i can score if i just focus on accuracy. I still want to know which is the best way to go? Besides study hard on my own im not sure whether a princeton review reading tutor is the better than taking the princeton review honors course?
