BFA Acting Class of 2023: preparation, prescreens, auditions, questions and support

D passed Otterbein pre-screen today! She submitted on 10/9, passed on 10/31. She’s happy!

Also, on Monday, her prescreen got declined for Ithaca. Submitted on 10/3, declined on 10/28. We’re good with that… both Ithaca and Syracuse declined her, so my Cali kid won’t be going off to a snowy frozen place for school B-)

S passed Otterbein prescreen today, submitted 9/26. Still waiting on a few others and will update then. Good luck to everyone and thanks for sharing.

@SoCalPops also heard back from Otterbein today passed prescreen and booked audition. Prescreen was sent 10/10 and passed 10/31.

@SoCalPops don’t rule out the snow yet. Last year we drove to Otterbein in a blizzard as they do get their fair share of snow. Granted it’s not up state New York…but snow is snow.

Hi @MI3rdClosingAct - yes, we still have a few of snowy schools on our list. I’m just happy that the remoteness of upstate NY is off the table.

S passed Otterbein today too! And in the last week, a yes from Ithaca, and a no from Syracuse. The yeses make the nos easier to swallow. Looking at the vast audition slots, our kids still have a steep hill to climb before an acceptance. But lets enjoy the Otterbein pass today!

@songbird17 Congrats! Yes, enjoy all the YESSES!

Has anyone heard back on CMU prescreens? It’s been almost 2 weeks since S submitted, which I think is what they estimate the turnaround time. Just curious.

Chicago Unifieds Q - is there discount code or link for the Palmer House Hilton? I googled for one and cannot find anything. But I saw a mention of one in past years in another thread here on CC. Anyone know of an Unifieds Discount?

@collegadmiss Yes, my D submitted to CMU on 10/13 and heard back on 10/24, so about 1 1/2 weeks. They said you would hear within 2 weeks, so you’ll probably hear any day now.

I recall seeing a thread of shared information from students/parents where they listed all the schools that they applied to with data on prescreens - passed or not, acceptances, and rejections with timing. Does anyone have that link?

@SoCalPops there is a discount code, it is THR and you enter it in the group code box when looking online. For the room with 2 double beds the rate should go down to $175

Thanks @Boilermom !!

Anyone flying in to Chicago on Southwest, check their website for hotel discounts. A friends got a fantastic deal a couple of years ago (when D1 was auditioning).

I booked the 1 room with 2 double beds at the Palmer House for $112 plus taxes about a month ago.

We stayed at the Silversmith around the corner last year … very nice and quiet alternative to the buzz and crowds at the Palmer House… also avoided coffee line in Palmer lobby by going to Corner Bakery nearby and also CVS for drinks and snacks

This is our thread from last year - we had a lot of good threads you can glean so much information from. I looked at the previous year all the time.

You accidentally linked the “acceptances” thread. Here’s the link to the discussion threads from last year: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/theater-drama-majors/1997470-class-of-2022-sharing-discussing-application-and-audition-season-p1.html

And here’s the “final decisions” thread from last year, where everyone told the story of their individual journeys and how they made their final decision. http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/theater-drama-majors/2059580-final-acting-decisions-background-class-of-2022-p1.html

Anyone Schedule Rutgers for Chicago Unifieds yet? That’s the last one my D needs to book. How much time do we need in the schedule 10 minutes? 1 Hour? Longer?

@SoCalPops Have booked Rutgers Monday 2/4 they say will last 15 min but to keep the whole hour open.
