BFA Acting Class of 2023: preparation, prescreens, auditions, questions and support

@love2share - you are off to a great start! 4 out of 5 passed pre-screens is great and you are nice and early to schedule stuff. Good luck!

@artskids and @FourStars Thank you so much! We’ll take as much luck and good energies as we can get!

My D passed Ithaca’s pre-screen; it took them 2 weeks. And we are done with our 5 pre-screens! Now, just waiting to schedule audition time slots with other schools.

Hi @collegeadmiss - which Loyola School did you son get accepted and partial scholarship too? Were you referring to LMU? My daughter applied EA to Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles, and we weren’t expecting to hear a decision till mid-December.

@SoCalPops Loyola N.O. They were one of the colleges
in attendance at ITF in June.

Thank you for explaining @collegeadmiss!

Has anyone heard back regarding Otterbein prescreen? It has been about a month and nothing yet?

Just wanted to share…if you are reporting SAT/ACT test scores to schools, you can save money with the following schools that accept self-reporting test scores through the school counselor. The following schools will accept test scores reported by the school counselor, either by the counselor placing the test scores on official school transcripts, or the counselor can email test scores to the school: Carnegie Mellon, Pace, DePaul, SUNY Purchase, Hartt, University of the Arts, and Point Park. I confirmed this by finding the info on the school’s website, or via email with admissions. Also, I’m sure there are other schools, but these schools are on my D’s list. Hope this helps!

@songbird17 it’s been 3 weeks since my D submitted to Otterbein and she has not heard yet. I think we’ll hear in next 2 weeks, before Thanksgiving break (just a guess).

@love2share thanks for the heads up. We’ve already reported to a few on this list but will check it out for future schools.

@SoCalPops @songbird17 We did a campus visit a few weeks ago and were told that they do them in batches of 20. So could take longer.

Thanks @AUDITIONMGR - has your D/S heard from Otterbein yet?

They are a small school w probably a small staff.

I know folks are mostly waiting on Pre Screen results, but for the question about when you will hear from LMU for EA - we heard on 12/18. Here is an easy way to see when results were shared timing wise (and where folks got in) from last year’s group.
Look up this thread, I can’t figure out how to post the link!

Thanks @FourStars for that link on last years acceptance thread. So we can go to the last comment post in the discussion and get the full list of everyone who added their audition and acceptance dates there - http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/21515678/#Comment_21515678

@SoCalPops No just submitted prescreen Oct 10.

@songbird17 and all Otterbein applicants. I just looked up the dates from last year. On my S, “accepted” prescreen acknowledgement email it listed that applicants would be notified on or before December 8th. His invitation to audition came on 12/6. He submitted his prescreen on 11/18. Maybe check “accepted” to see what date they list this year as it may be similar. Lovely school!

Otterbein - yes the Acceptd portal says you’ll be notified on prescreen status on or before December 5th. OK. But on the Otterbein website, they list December 8th as an onsite audition date. Then it also says Ohio residents must audition onsite. And further it says Unified dates are reserved for out of state students. Soooo… I’m guessing they’re working through the in-state students first? They’re probably a higher commitment rate so that would make sense.

JMU has a personal essay- 500 words. There is a place to enter it on their online application.

@SoCalPops You have it correct! And,they do have kids attending from all over the place, but it is a small program. They also offer generous talent scholarships. My S decided on another school, but his friend(out of CA) is there and loving it!
