BFA Acting Class of 2023: preparation, prescreens, auditions, questions and support

@loudclappingmom It’s such a roller coaster. S felt very unsure about his Rutgers audition and was sure he would not get the callback, plus had a disappointing result in an audition for a high school production, so we lived through a pretty painful week - then got the callback email and the world feels better again, but with 12 decisions still outstanding and no acceptances yet, I know there is more waiting and surely some sadness to come. It is such a hard path they are choosing, and very difficult for the parents to live through!

@drama315 I also have D at BU. Feel free to PM me with your questions. @TravelMom402 a friend of my S got redirected to the BA program at UMinn a number of years ago. She accepted the offer, reapplied to the BFA during freshman year and was admitted in the next round. She REALLY loves it there.

Well, I tried @morgan830 – no idea if I did it correctly :-/

Vis-à-vis CalArts, does anyone know of someone who, at the audition, received faculty cards and was asked to shadow a student but DIDN’T end up being accepted?

@hamdog123 I have read somewhere here on the boards that there have been rejections despite being given a card and/or having been asked to shadow. But I don’t remember what board(s) I saw that on.

@OrangeFish I hear you. Some of them look complicated. lol. Can you attach the link?

@hamdog123 Yes, someone from prior year said on here they didn’t get in despite all that.

@artskids would you mind sharing the info on the U Minn callback weekend with me? Thankfully my D has been invited and trying to figure out if to go with and what to expect. Thanks in advance!

@ThenSheSaidIt can you please send me a PM? I’d love to hear about your D experience at U Minn. I still can’t PM because I don’t have enough posts yet :slight_smile:

@gidamom I just messaged you.

Has anyone heard from Rider Acting concentration? The MT students are getting notifications.

Hey everyone! Does anyone know how Shenandoah conservatory notifies you of their decision? Is it through email? Mail? Carrier pigeon? Please let me know :slight_smile:

@2golfishes My D was accepted via phone call on Tuesday. Their last round of auditions are this weekend, so all acceptances are definitely not out.

My D attended Chicago Unifieds. She said there was only one room for those auditioning for the Fordham acting program (with the head of the Acting Program and a female faculty member). She was unaware of anyone, at least in Chicago, who was “passed on to another room”. Did she miss something?

@portland2214 sorry for the confusion! My daughter auditioned on campus where they run two audition rooms with different faculty and can pass you to the second room to do your monologues again if they like you in the first room.

I’ve heard of people receiving rejections from Ithaca about a week after their audition. If my audition was 2 weeks ago and I haven’t heard anything, that’s a good sign, right?

Thanks for clarifying. It is probably better to audition on campus if possible.

Has anyone heard from Montclair or Fordham yet?

@portland2214 @loudclappingmom My D auditioned for Fordham on campus but was not aware if they had another room. They asked her to perform a third monologue.
