Anybody know any inside scoop about when we will hear from SUNY Purchase?
@theaterlove3 According to my notes, one year SUNY Purchase made yes phone calls on 3/15. Another year it was 3/19. So it can be any day now.
On Syracuse, I don’t know if it makes a difference, but their academic calendar says that they have Spring Break from March 10-17. I guess the offices are open, but I don’t know if the people making the acceptance decisions are off.
@posivibes My S got an email today from Fordham to check the portal. He was waitlisted. From what I’ve read here, they release some decisions every Friday. Good luck!
My S got an acceptance to the Acting BFA at Syracuse tonight by email around 6:15.
@danielle6183 Congrats on Syracuse!
@danielle6183 Congratulations to your S on Syracuse!
Thank you @love2share . He is away on spring break and that email made his day!! And mine…especially the financial aid package. Good luck everyone!! Our kids will all end up where they are meant to be.
@NYDreammom How was the The New School page personalized for your daughter? I saw the congratulations however not much personalization on the page. Just want to make sure it’s real. D only applied to 2 BFA programs so there’s extra pressure over here. TIA
@BettyBNYC2023 It had her name somewhere on the page, that’s all I meant. So we knew it was for her.
Also in the url web address I remember it had “admitted” as part of the link.
I also recall there was a section about paying deposit but the link was not active for a while - maybe a week or so after official acceptances went out. Best of luck to you to get the yesses!
Can anyone speak about the social lives of students who are Pace BFA in Acting, MT or FCTV?
question. I have friends asking me about schools putting deadlines on their decisions this month. I thought that was no allowed (before May 1). Anyone have the scoop on this?
@LuvMTs Yes, legally everyone has until May 1 (National Decision Day). They could politely respond and say they are still considering their options and their understanding is that they have until May 1 and see what the school says.
@NYDreammom thanks for this. Follow on question. If they say “they need to know by XX” date or they give their spot to someone on wait list is that “legal” or what is your take on that?
@LuvMTs We were told at the DePaul audition info session that no one can force us to respond prior to May 1 because it is not legal.
I would try to call the school and have that conversation. If that is their stance though you may have to decide if you are ok with that pressure. Is that school at the top of your list? There is also a discussion I recall on CC about that, you may want to search and get more insight.
@tlm333 what exactly are you looking to find out re: Pace? My D is an MT major there
My D got her official acceptance letter from LIU Post, with a Presidential Scholarship covering Full Tuition! Yay! This was a walk-in audition D did at LA Unifieds. We had heard such wonderful things about LIU Post on CC, as well as from MTCA, so when we saw them at LA Unifieds, we squeezed a walk-in with them. This was the audition that my D was in the room for a long time…She performed both her contrasting contemporary monologues, then they asked her to sing a song. After talking with her, she came out and asked me to come in, and then they spent another 15 minutes talking with me about how much they want my D to be in their program. They invited us to an interview later that day, which was an info session about their program. I really like David Hugo, and what he had to say about LIU’s acting program. Their focus is acting, even with MT students, and my D would be able to take singing and dance classes, even though she would be in the acting program. LIU Post hires working directors to direct their shows, so students can start establishing working relationships with directors. I’ve heard that LIU Post’s performing arts program is a “hidden gem” and with this scholarship, we will be seriously considering LIU Post. We plan on visiting LIU Post, along with Pace FTVC next month in April. And we’re still waiting to hear from 4 more schools!
Congratulations, @love2share ! Goes to show the advantage of walk-in auditions at Unifieds!
Congrats @love2share !!! How wonderful and even more so full tuition! That can make all the difference, and is so important especially for this field.
@NYDreammom Thank you! At LIU Post, my D will graduate with no debt, and that’s huge! We can’t wait to visit. David Hugo said to make sure to visit her other schools she’s considering and then to visit LIU Post. He was confident that she would like what she sees in regards to the classes (and not so much to the facilities.)
