BFA Acting Class of 2024: Preparation, Prescreens, Auditions, Questions and Support

Does anyone have insight into the BFA Acting program at Millikin?

Has anyone heard anything from FSU? I heard BFA acting were supposed to be notified this week?

@mommyMT - we were told by all4SU that notifications would be sent between February 27th and March 2nd. So it’s next weekend, not this one! :slight_smile:

@CaMom13 oh I must’ve misread. I thought she said that was for MT and that acting would be notified this week. So both are Feb 27-mar 2? Thank u!

Actually @CaMom13 @mommyMT - she did say Acting would be this week. Her comments I pasted below.

"@mommyMT and @anastasiasmom Our last MT audition day is 2/23 and we see everyone before we make decisions. Admitted students will receive a phone call; alternates (wait list) will receive a letter in the mail; declined students will receive an email. I am hoping to have results out somewhere between February 27th and March 2nd, but the applicants have definitely made it difficult to make decisions!

Edit: Ahhh…just noticed that this is in the Theatre/Drama section. BFA Acting decisions were made last week. Notifications will be the same as above, but for Acting they will happen this week."

@stagedoormama ok thanks! Hopefully we will find out in the next few days then! Crossing my fingers for everyone waiting to hear! ???

Whoops - missed the second part of the last sentence - thanks @stagedoormama !

Does anyone know when CCM is supposed to release BFA Acting results? I know they have begun releasing MT results the past couple of Fridays

@TimeToFindInfo

I think CCM has started releasing Acting decisions. If you haven’t heard yet then you would still be in consideration.

Does anyone know what pace bfa acting’s yield is? Made it to the final callback but trying to calculate our chances

@TimeToFindInfo
Received ours a few weeks ago so they have started their rounds, but their accepted students day is March 13th so my guess is you will find out before then if that helps

I saw in another acting forum on friday that someone said their son was accepted into Ithaca’s BFA program. Has anyone else heard anything and does anyone know if they are sending out acceptances gradually, or if they’re all done with updating who’s in?

@2231Starcross3

I have not heard of any Ithaca BFA Acting acceptance yet. As a suggestion, you could email or call their department and ask if decisions have gone out and if not, when you might hear.

For those who are anxiously waiting to hear from UNCSA, we are here today. Quinn just told us they hope to have everyone notified by Tuesday and he plans on starting making calls TONIGHT! Auditions don’t finish until roughly 5, so that may be very optimistic of him, but that is what he said.

@BFAMom2024 and others waiting on the UNCSA decision - crossing my fingers and toes for you all and sending good vibes. Hoping the outcome is positive for each of you. My d did not make the callback for this one and was sad because it really is a good program but she sends good vibes to all of you too.

There have been quite a few phone calls, emails, and portal updates happening today and some happening in the last few days. UNSCA, Ball State, Ithaca, and others are notifying. Sending good vibes to everyone waiting for a decision - that the decision is a good one for you.

This is just a suggestion because I’ve heard CC parents say they wish the class of 2024 had the connection that the class of 2022 and 2023 had. And because I’m thinking ahead I thought I would put this out there for anyone interested.

The classes of 2021, 2022, and 2023 have set up FB pages to stay in touch and up to date on what’s happening with all of their kids for their respective class. I’m posting this in case someone is willing to setup a FB page for the class of 2024 CC parents to stay in touch once their kids have decided on schools. Tech/design and even any MT parent too are welcome to join in. If a page is setup then the person could say the page is setup and ask people to message them to get the information.

@CaMom13 and @actorparent1 described how it was set up below.

The way we did the Facebook group last year for the class of 2022, one person announced that they were going to create the page, and then everyone who wanted to join sent a private message to that person, who told them the exact name of the private Facebook group that she created.

When each person searched for the name of the group on Facebook, they were taken to the page, and when they clicked “Join group,” they were asked for their CC screen name and which college their child had committed to, just as a sort of trivia question to prove that they really were a CCer. Then the group administrator approved them, and that was it!

Also @soozievt talked about a CC thread vs a FB page …

It is fine on CC to have a thread about post graduation! There already have been threads on that topic right here on the MT Forum. The Parent Cafe has a lot of old timers who share all sorts of things about kids already out of college…even weddings and grandchildren. :smiley:

Here’s the difference, as I see it, between a thread on CC and a FB group…on CC, I would share general ideas or experiences, but in my FB groups of parents of post grads, we share specifics about our kids’ experiences. Their names are shared, their shows are shared, etc.

@anastasiasmom - we love our FB group! One suggestion - given that participation in CC forums is lower than it used to be if might make sense to do a FB group that combined MT and Acting for the class of 2024. MT parents tend to be more participative in general and there’s a lot of cross-over in the freshman experience and beyond for BFA applicants in both disciplines.

Has anyone heard anything about UNCSA phone calls or are they over?

My kid did not make the UNCSA callback list at NY Unifieds so we already knew it was a no, but for those of you still waiting and looking for information the portal was just updated today with a very nice rejection letter. I don’t think there’s an email yet. So if your portal isn’t showing a rejection then I guess that’s some good news. Good luck to you all!
