Do I have it correct in my inference from the recent posts that some got their BFA Acting decision from UConn in their portal, but not everyone yet has gotten their BFA decision (might have their university academic decision though)? If you respond whether you got something or not, please indicate you are referring to UConn as this long thread is a mishmash of many topics and schools and it is not always clear in someone’s response, which school/program they are referring to. Thanks.

Decisions for incoming freshman and transfer students were posted in the portal this morning. UCONN freshman that are auditioning in their freshman year at UCONN won’t get a decision in their portal and have to wait until Monday.

Also if you did not get accepted into Acting you still might be accepted to UCONN. If that is the case your letter will say that you were accepted to ACES, which is for undecided majors

Thanks @DramaDad4Life. I got confused because someone posted they already got accepted into UConn for BFA in Acting. My student (I am a college counselor, with a specialty in theater admissions) who is an applicant for freshmen admissions, checked his portal when I gave him this head’s up and found he is accepted to UConn but didn’t see anything about the BFA in Acting. If there is no note about Acting, then the student didn’t get into acting? Also, sorry, but I am unclear as to who finds out what on Monday?

You misunderstand. If he is an incoming freshman it will be in his letter that he got accepted to Acting. It his letter says that he got accepted into ACES that means that he got rejected for Acting but still accepted to UCONN. Ask him what his letter says exactly. It it says ACES he was rejected for Acting

@DramaDad4Life …OK, I will ask him what the letter in the UConn portal says. I know it didn’t mention anything about acting. But what are you saying comes out on Monday?

Also, are the UConn BFA Acting decisions rolling or everyone was notified one way or the other today? Thank you! This is not a program where I have typically had students apply in the past.

so on the acceptance letter it says that you are accepted to the school of fine arts on the storrs campus. When you leave the letter and look at the portal the major is listed as acting, hope that was helpful!

@helpingthekid73 Thank you for trying to help. I will pass this onto my student. So, if the letter doesn’t say anything about fine arts and the portal doesn’t list the major as acting, it sounds like the student is denied for acting. From what you are saying, it appears that the decisions that came out today for UConn are all at once, one way or another for BFA in Acting.

Good luck to him!

Thanks. I passed that information on to this student about UConn. He has the majority of his schools to still hear from, though already has one BFA in Acting acceptance.

AND…congrats to your kid!!!

For kids that are already going to UCONN they have to wait until Monday. My son already goes to UCONN so he doesn’t get a letter in his portal like others did today. It’s very silly in my opinion. If your student got a letter in his portal this morning it will say Acting if he got accepted into Acting. If he didn’t it will say he got accepted to ACES.

@DramaDad4Life…ah, got you now. Your kid is already at UConn and yes, that is silly that he did not get his decision at the same time that the other BFA decisions were rendered. Fingers crossed for him! I passed this information onto my student now. I mentioned the ACES thing too this time based on your information as he didn’t mention seeing anything about Acting. My guess is that he didn’t get into Acting on the little information I have at the moment. He was asking me if I knew how he could find out about the acting component. Honestly, the admissions decision letter should be clear if an applicant is not admitted to BFA in Acting, but admitted to the university itself. Why do colleges not try to state things clearly? Just because an admissions letter says someone is admitted to the university, doesn’t make it clear they are not admitted to the BFA program, because there are SOME colleges that render two separate letters of admissions, one to the university and one to the BFA program. If a student is denied for a BFA program, the letter should make that clear, in my opinion, rather than add to the confusion. In other words, learning one is admitted to the university doesn’t then lead to conclusion one is denied for the BFA (as is the confusion my student has upon reading his portal for UConn…well, at least before I sent this latest explanation).

OK, heard back from my acting applicant kiddo after I sent the information you guys so nicely clarified here about UConn decisions. His acceptance letter from UConn states ACES and thus it is a no for Acting. Still, as he could not tell how to find out the decision for Acting, their letter should be clearer that the student was denied for Acting, in my view.

In limbo! No yes, no “no thanks “ for Ithaca, Michigan, Ball State and BOCO MT. She wasn’t early and I know the schools received tons of auditions, so I understand, but it’s excruciating! My daughter has a cool - it’s out of my hands attitude. I - keep checking her portals and getting hopes up when I hear her talking on the phone. Fast forward please!

Has anyone that auditioned for Boston Conservatory for their Contemporary Drama program heard back yet? If I asked before, sorry, I can’t find it! D’s portal shows her letter from musical theatre (a no), but her application is from Contemporary Drama, which we have had not heard back from or had any correspondence from since her audition a few weeks ago. Just wondering if anyone has heard anything at all. Thanks!
