Lol, totally understand. We just tried to keep everything neutral until we saw an offer in writing! Even positive interactions, emails and calls, we tried not to get our hopes up until it was really real! Hang in there!
Thanks- at the very least, we found out there was a mistake on the CSS profile, which needs to be fixed at about 10 schools, so that is good.
One of my daughter’s friends is currently a sophomore in the Baylor program and she has been very happy! She has been cast in a number of different things and has had lots of opportunities. We also know a lot of other kids at Baylor who are not in theatre, but who love Baylor and are having a great experience. Having said that, Baylor is a very specific fit, and all of the kids that we know who are there currently are very religious (they are not all Baptist, but they are very religious). I would encourage you to visit if possible to see if it’s the right fit for your daughter.
Wondering about Guthrie as well. Seems in past years they had already notified all by this point after callbacks. Have people been hearing yes, no, waitlist? We have not heard anything at all.
(Minn/guthrie) Yes calls have gone out over the last week (not sure if they are done). No one has heard No’s or WL that we know of.
thank you for the update on Guthrie.
My D heard they’d be making offers over the next three weeks starting last weekend. They are definitely doing things differently this year than in years past.
(Guthrie). Thank you. That is great info to know. Not sure they told the kids during callbacks so this is very helpful.
I’m in the same situation with financials. I’ve read a lot of good LOCIs that don’t promise the student will commit, and I’m iffy about being too direct about the fact that my decision would depend on financial aid in part, so I think I’m going to try to write it in a way that sounds excited (which I am) without making any promises.
My D drafted something yesterday based on some advice from a college audition coach, and then I asked a BTDT mom whose D had a few WL’s last year to read it over. My D was silent about the money thing and basically said things like, “It remains a top choice for me,” and “I’d be so excited to be moved off of the WL.” Sent it last night!
What does LOCI stand for?
“Letter of Continued Interest” It’s a fancy title for written communication (we’re doing all email and no snail mail) that basically says you’re still very excited about the program and hope to move off of the waitlist.
Sending ours today. So stressful.
Keep me posted! We don’t have a reply to ours yet.
Good morning! Anyone heard from Penn State and/or Syracuse? I know that PSU has been contacting kids, but my D’s portal is unchanged.
Nothing here from Syracuse yet.
Anyone here from BoCo Contemporary Theatre?
I have a student who has already been admitted to the BFA in Acting program at Penn State, but has not heard back yet from Syracuse.
Syracuse tends to notify in three waves on 3 Fridays in March. Acceptances are in each wave.
My D heard from Chapman BFA for theatre performance - a Yes! Portal update in the afternoon. Very excited1
Has not heard anything from Syracuse yet either.
Well, my S got a “no thank you” email from Guthrie and a “yes” phone call from Pace BFA Acting! What a rollercoaster this is!
