Hello, I'm a brazilian student and searching for good BFA Acting colleges located in NY or LA that aren't extremelly expensive (like NYU), but have good exposure for producers, agents, etc. My main goal is to work on film/television, but stage is fine too. What would you recommend?
Also, do you think a MFA is important? Acting schools like AADA are a good choice, in case I'm rejected?
I was thinking about applying to SUNY Purchase and USC, but I'm still unsure.
Thanks!

Edit: Oh, I have another question. Our college admissions in Brazil are very different, based only on an exam (kinda like SAT), so it's very common that, after graduating in High School, we still study for at least one more year in some kind of preparative school (that exam is really, really hard and the acceptance rate in my state is usually below 5% for drama colleges). So is it ok for me to apply to US universities for 2013, knowing that i graduated from High School last year?

Hello mementofan, I sent you a PM as we’re both Brazilians and I would like to exchange some info. (sorry I can’t be of any more help regarding your actual post)

EDIT:
I just read yout edit and I can answer some of your doubts (I’d rather answer them here, in case another Brazilian needs this tipps and the private stuff I’ll answer you via PM): yes, I too graduated last year and it is fine to apply for fall 2013.

The Vestibular and the ENEM are not valid for your university entrance, though (except at NYU). I don’t know if that’s your case, but as we don’t need grades for taking the Vestibular, Brazilian students usually go to competitive high schools and tend to have lower grades than American students. But your grades are a really big factor for U.S. colleges.

Doing a “cursinho” is kinda useless, except for taking the SAT (and still, the maths part of the SAT is usually what we learn during the 1st colegial). And I would strongly recommend you to do a TOEFL preparation course.

Yes, it’s true the Vestibular is tough. Especially for USP and Unicamp. If you are willing to go to college over here, though, I would highly recommend the Escola Superior de Artes C
