My daughter is looking for a conservatory-style program that offers a BFA in Lighting Design. She is considering University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), where she has already been accepted. We recently discovered that Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle has a similar program, though I’m guessing the cultures of the two schools are quite different (we haven’t visited Cornish yet). I know UNCSA is great, but I don’t know what the level is at Cornish. Their web site makes it sound great - does it live up to this?
I am from the Northwest, and honestly- if she has been accepted to UNCSA- GO THERE! There is really no comparison. Cornish is in no way at the level of UNCSA.
Cornish is not really considered a top program, but definitely a nice safety to have. UNCSA is a top top very competitive program. Has she looked at CalArts? They also have a great program.
Otterbein also has a good conservative type program. The degree is BFA in design/tech with a concentration in lighting.
