Can any current or former students/parents comment on how useful a bicycle would be on campus? DD is going to be living in Schurz Hall and it looks like it is almost a mile to get to the other side of campus (the J-School).

My DD lived in Schurz this year and used her bike extensively, at least during her first semester. Not so much during the winter (obviously) and I haven’t asked her how much she has used it this spring. I think it would definitely be worthwhile to have a bike on campus, especially if she does not have a car. Just make sure you get a good cable and lock for it. There is a big bike rack area behind Schurz and it is covered.

My son used his bike a lot. After he got a car and lived off campus, he kept his bike near the parking lot and rode it to class. It is a hike from Schurz (a very nice dorm, by the way) to the other side of campus, but it’s a beautiful walk when the weather is decent. Good exercise!
