Big Dreams Already

Hey guys. So I just researched LSE (London School of Economics) and the school is looking REALLY tempting. I'm thinking about studying abroad my Junior year.

However, I do have some concerns:
(1) I've NEVER been outside of the USA. I'm honestly scared of going to London on my own. Does anyone have any experiences of being abroad?

(2) I read over the academic requirements. It says those who want to pursue Economic major (i.e. myself), would need a 3.5 GPA to be favorably considered. Here's the bummer. I have two semesters left before I apply to LSE and currently have a 2.9 GPA. So in a nutshell, I have two semesters (including this one) to pull my GPA up from a 2.9 to a 3.5. Do you think that it's reasonable for me to pull it up that high in just two semesters?

(3) Would anyone here by chance be from London and can speak on London as a city?

(4) Is anyone familiar with London's colleges in terms of rigor? I also fear that the academics may be really rough on me. I'm willing to put in the work without a doubt, but I just would like to get a sense of what I am potentially getting myself into.

Agh I'm just so excited thinking about the thought of being able to go to LSE for a year. This has definitely motivated me to kick a$s in academics! Haha.

London is a nice city, but extremely expensive.

I think you have a math problem on your hands. If you have a current GPA of 2.9 (after 1 year being two semesters), you can’t get to a 3.5 after two additional semesters.

2.9 * 30 credits = 87 points

assume 4.0 * 30 more credits covering your next two semesters = 120

87+120 = 207

207/60 = 3.45

However, it is possible if you take an additional course each semester (18 credit hours per semester) and get a 4.0.

So you are looking at having to take 36 credits in your next two semesters and get a 4.0 overall, just to get your GPA to 3.5.

Probably a longshot, but I will say this: don’t let a difficult road ahead of you prevent you from even trying.
