Bill and Melinda Gates Divorcing

Maybe you should listen to better radio stations! Gates was known as a ruthless competitor. He was known for copying his competitors instead of innovating. He was known for betraying companies that partner with Microsoft. He was known for monopolizing the desktop software market.

What he was NOT known for is groping. And Microsoft certainly was not known as a toxic workplace during his time as CEO.

I would substitute ‘toxic’ with ‘intense.’ Some thrive in that environment, while others might feel like they’re wearing golden handcuffs.

It is not newsworthy unless it is true and timely.

A tabloid rag has reported that Bill was spotted in New York wearing a polo, shorts, and black dress socks with running shoes. Ugh. I’m sure Melinda is relieved that she no longer has to nag him about his clothes…

BTW, if there were allegations that Bill was groping women at MSFT, that tabloid would have picked it up. The article repeated every allegation that was brought up to date, but nothing about groping. What the tabloid said that back in the days when Bill was at the head of MSFT, several women lodged complaints about their male colleagues inappropriately touching them, but nothing was done. This toxic behavior continued when Ballmer was the CEO, and not much had changed when he departed. The new guy’s nasty comments about women also made headlines recently. Sigh…

Changes are likely coming to the Foundation.

Ms. French Gates sets up an option for her exit from the Foundation:

From article linked above:

Since the divorce was announced, French Gates has received stock worth more than $3 billion from the Gateses’ Cascade Investment, the entity that manages the duo’s combined fortune.

Looks like 3 billion and counting, as that is only stock.

Of course, drop in the bucket to total assets.
