I was undecided my freshman year as to what to major in and attempted pre med at binghamton. It was a struggle and I ma now trying to study nursing. I like Binghamton as a school but it is still expensive for my family so I applied and got accepted into Cuny Hunter. Now the decision comes down to the two, would you recommend me staying in binghamton or going and tranferring into Cuny Hunter. Hunter would be a lot cheaper but would the education earned there be a big difference? I do not have a lot of time to make my decision and do not know whether it would be better to jut take out extra loans to graduate from binghamton or just go to hunter... is the quality of the education really that different? And is the name of binghamton really that much better? Which school do you think is best to attend?

Thanks for your help

binghamton has a great nursing program (are you actually in that program now or just hoping to get into it? my understanding is that it is hard to get into, so if you aren’t in is already, take your chances of getting in into account in deciding whether to go to hunter). i know nothing about hunter’s. but i would make the following suggestions –

in general, it is my understanding that nurses are in demand – so in that respect, hopefully either program will get you a job. are there placement offices at the schools where you can ask about their graduates’ placements? what percentage have jobs at graduation, where do those jobs tend to be, and what is the general starting salary?

then figure out exactly how much in student loans you would have if you stayed at binghamton and graduated there. find out what your monthly payments on that loan amount would be. then determine if that is an amount that you will be able to handle on the salary you are likely to have.

good luck where ever you end up.
