I applied too. I didn’t receive a likely letter.
Did you get one or do you know of anyone who did?

Nope, I was just curious! I don’t think this program is very popular, and wasn’t expecting as many kids on the likely page to be posting about it (as they were with the M&T program, for example). Is it even considered a dual-degree program or more like a joint program with the School of Dental Medicine?

I applied for this program last year. Didn’t know of many other applicants to it though. Not sure if it’s considered a joint-degree, but they officially call it a “submatriculation” program if you want to get fancy with it lol.

TheEarlyBird, were you accepted to the program? Just curious

No I was not, and not accepted to CAS either. I had a lovely interview, though. My interviewer was a current dentist-in-training and actually went to my high school many years ago. My college applications focused greatly on accelerated dental programs, and at the time of my interview, I already had an acceptance to UOP’s 5 year accelerated dental program in hand (which I later ended up rejecting as well :D)

For me, I think where I fell short in my Penn application was that I was too narrowly focused on the dental program as my reason for applying to Penn. In that respect, I don’t think I conveyed enough passion, interest, or knowledge about Penn overall.

I applied to the 7 years program ED. How many students do they normally accept each year?

My best friend is also applying to the program and her mentor is in the program. There are approximately 15-20 students enrolled in the program.
I don’t want to scare you but this is something that needs to be thought about. A majority (a very very large majority) of the accepted students don’t matriculate into dental school their third year because they can’t meet the requirement of maintaining a 3.5 science GPA. So if you do get accepted, there is a large possibility that you might not be in the accelerated program in a few years and instead just a normal Penn student. Good luck!

what do u think the minimum SAT scores for getting into 7 year dental program???
