Hi,

I have a couple of interviews coming up (molecular biology programs), and I just have a few questions for anyone who has already gone through this process or feels like adding some comments. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

How competitive are the interviews? Do the majority of people receive offers, or is it more similar to a job or med school interview?

What kinds of questions should I expect to receive? Should I concern myself with random science questions (precise structure of a nucleotide, molarity problems, etc.), or are the interviews more informative and aimed at luring you into the program?

At the very least, I'm going to prepare to talk about my research project and familiarize myself with the faculty I'll likely be meeting at the interviews (i.e. read their research descriptions and a few publications, etc.). Does that sound like the right way to prepare? The whole grad school admissions process seems very murky and intimidating at times...

If anything, I guess I will be able to enjoy some free travel and fancy food/wine, but I suppose it would also be nice to get into grad school somewhere...
