abcdefgclass2006-
I have heard that it is bad to use ap credit for math because Med-Schools want letter grades. Have I heard wrong?

So if i got accepted to major "biochem and molecular bio", that's pre-med oriented right?

thanks, abcdefgclass 2006! you are very helpful!

yup, MCB-BMB (Molecular and Cell Biology w/ emphasis in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) is (mostly) a pre-med major. However, it's known to be the toughest of the MCB emphases. Just this year, they came out with 2 modifications ("new options") to the MCB emphases, one pertaining to BMB and one to Immunology. Because you won't be declaring your major until after your freshman year or during sophomore year, don't worry about which emphasis you will eventually declare.

what if you don want to be in a pre-med major, but you're in mcb, its still good right?

Is Cell and Developmental biology the same thing as MCB? How many pre-med students do you reckon take CDB and whats the diff between that and MCB?

CDB is one emphasis of MCB. It's the most popular (by far) among the premeds.

yup, MCB will adequately prepare you for grad school (or law, if you take quite a few humanities/ social science electives).

"B.S. Chemical Biology from the college of chemistry........that's probably the most hardcore Biochem program you'll find in the country ... Trust, me, you won't find Biochem majors this intense in any other school "-abcd

mmm..I got into the School of Chemistry...So is it a lot more difficult than the general school at Berkeley?!
