Biology at vtech

How competitive would you say biology is there? Are people dropping out left and right ?

Bump bump bump bump

I am a current freshman majoring in Biology. There were just under 500 people majoring in biology when the year started but I know a bunch of people that have switched either out of biology or into biology. It isn’t necessarily competitive, but it is one of the hardest majors at Virginia Tech (I think it’s considered the second hardest after engineering). The freshman general chem and bio classes, as well as organic chem in sophomore year, are meant to weed out the pack because after those classes you start getting into more upper level courses such as pathogenic bateriology, immunology, and other classes!
