This is pure hearsay but the rates of acceptance are above 70%, maybe Mollie has a comment about this?

It varies somewhat by program, but I think typical post-interview acceptance rates are between 60% and 70%, at least for the programs with which I'm familiar. That's a really rough estimate, though, because many programs are tight-lipped about how many people they accept following interviews.

I applied to BMS...on the link you posted to the test magic forums they had people getting interview invites in early feb. so I wouldn't worry if you have not heard from them yet.

hi i have a question about the scripps app...anyone here already apply? for their statement of purpose they ask you to submit a statement reflecting your purpose in applying to grad school, and then they tell you to include 3 other things including 1) a statement showing your laboratory experience and 2) info that may aid the selection committee. does this mean they want all of this combined in one statement of purpose? or do they want a completely separate statement about your lab experience and ...i have no idea what in terms of extra info. please help? thanks :)

Hey guys, this is my stats so far. All programs are somewhat pharmacology related...(Also, I am an international student)
Applied:
Stanford, MIT, UC-Berkeley, Caltech, Harvard, JHU, Rockefeller, TSRI, UCSF, WashU, Yale, Columbia, UMich, UWisc, UPenn, Baylor College of Medicine, UNC-CH
Interviews:
WashU, Yale, Columbia, UWisc, UPenn, Baylor, UNC-CH

Columbia called me on Tuesday inviting me for an interview (january 25) It's for their Nutritional and Metabolic biology department. I was surprised to hear from them so soon b/c I submitted my app on Dec 8th but yay

hi mcbartist,
congrats on all your interviews!
i am wondering if some of the dates overlap for you- how do you deal with that? i know there are multiple weekend but it still seems there is considerable overlap...

Hi mutation, ya there is a lot of overlap in my case too. This is my plan of attack: Wait for another 2 weeks or so, to hear back from other schools, and then plan out in order of preference.

I have a question though, by when should we let the schools know that we plan to attend their interview weekend?

One of the schools that invited me asked for a reply by two weeks before the interview itself. That seems like the very least notice a person should give, even when booking the tickets oneself.

Delaying the reply too long makes it look like you're not very interested. (Captain Obvious, at your service!) Since you're clearly a good candidate and you're managing lots of interview offers, some schools might give up on you if you don't make your interest clear. You could reply now to the schools that have interviews on the earliest dates - after all, you're not likely to develop more conflicts on those dates, now that winter break has started.

Another option: since you can guess based on previous success that you'll have more offers later, you could just interview at the top two or three of the seven schools you've already heard from. You could request phone interviews at the remainder, which is perfectly reasonable since you're an international student.
