I am equally good at E and M.
But which one should I take? Which one has the better curve?

bump.. i'd like to know too.

Molecular has the better curve

Are you positive? because for the Barron's practice tests, the ecological section has the better curve.. and i'd assume they'd want to mimic the real test scoring curve as accurately as possible..

Ecology has a better curve

folks:

go to the source, CB. You'll find that 30% of M testers score 700+, in comparison to 17% for E. So, you might think M to be "easier" or offer a better curve. BUT, it's entirely possible that the student population is different. For example, perhaps the E test is comprised of kids taking AP Enviro while the M test has more kids taking AP Bio, and perhaps they are a stronger cohort (AP Enviro is a so-called AP Lite).

well then this shall be forever shrouded in mystery.

for my own fun and pleasure, i will stick to M.

E is usually easier... I took it twice and got 100+ more points on E

but are you significantly better at ecological biology?

Well I dont think so. I mean I guess it just depends on the test you get. Sometimes one will be significantly easier than the other. So I mean, just go with what you feel on that day, and if you can just flip through the tests to get a sense for which is easier.

I prepared for M both times but the 2nd time a took the test I noticed E looked much easier so I took that instead.

...I thought you had to decide which you take beforehand?

I know that if I don't get an 800, I' m going to be cursing myself for not choosing the other section -.-

"The Molecular emphasis though is known to have a more difficult curve than the Ecological emphasis; this is due to factors regarding the other students taking the Molecular emphasis and how well these students generally do on it."

I was hoping it'd be the other way round. I love molecular biology. And yet don't want to risk anything. Drat etc.

On practice test curves, E had the better one. But, seriously, take the one your better at.

Molecular does have the better curve, but it is harder. So it would be about the same.

are you sure? :

Biology M has more generous curve, but you should take the one which you know better.

honestly the barrons book seems to show E having a REALLY generous curve.

Weird, though, as it seems to me that even though i studied M really hardcore, I ended up taking E because E is really really easy. The depth covered is so much less than M.
