Biology SAT II POST-EXAM discussion!

If you forgot the survey, it's ok! It's just a survey...

Redox = exchange of electrons.
Chemiosmosis = passage of H+ through membrane or whatever

"How can it be the line graph, when there is nothing in between the trials on the x axis, no progression? A line means that you could go to the thing BETWEEN NITROGEN AND PHOSPHORUS on the x axis, and find the amount of growth for that."

Yes I agree, I am 100% positive that the line graph is the wrong graph. The information given for every patch of the field was independent from each other. It is not allowed to connect these data. THERE IS NOTHING IN BETWEEN. The three collumns could have been arranged in any order on the x-axis. Only because they were arranged in increasing order, doesn't mean that you can just go ahaed and connect them. That's one of the first things you learn in a science course. ;)
The pie chart is correct because the whole thing reflected the maximum growth with phosphorous and nitrogen. The sections were percentages in relation to the full growth potential with either nitrogen or phosphorous only or nothing at all.

lol, full growth potential, as you said the data were completely independent, you use a pie graph to determine the percentages of one whole thing. theres no such thing as a "full growth potential" the pie graph was incorrect and was there as a trick

The pie graph was there as a trick yes, as it is a damn useless and silly graph, but at least it makes sense. You're ignoring that the line graph is COMPLETELY WRONG and ridiculous.

COULD SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME

I sent in a cancel form to the College board, only to realize that there needed to be a signature!

Did anyone have this experience before!? Would they refuse to cancel the score then!?

Their fax machine doesn't work either, for some reason- it just keeps beeping.

I am so concerned and worried right now . V_V

Call them?

would they let me..though. they may just not believe me and consider signature the only proof.

is frustrated that they are not taking calls this moment
but...oh well.

I didn't mean prove it to them by calling them; I just meant call them and find out if there's anything you can do.

Hey, for the question on the trees and what affected the growth of the cedar... it was a question with 1, 2, and 3. I remember 1 was competition with oaks and 3 was lack of nutrients. what was #2??

Im tryign to remember if i put 1 only or 1 and 2 for that answer

I'm thinking that since nobody has recalled it, it didn't pose a problem for anyone, so we probably got it right. I personally don't remember.

i dont think 3 was lack of nutrients, i believe it was removal of deciduous didnt affect numbers of white pines

dang. So far ive got oen wrong for sure. People are beginning to lean towards the line graph being the wrong one and I can see why... so thats two. Im hoping i didnt miss that one about the trees for a total of 3 wrong...

would 3 wrong and no omits be an 800?? the college board curve is way to lenient i think. the sparknotes curve is crazy... way to hard. Barrons has a curve where a raw score of 75 and above is an 800.

Edit: whoops i think the question was talking about the cedar trees

I think ironchef is mistaken. I think removal of decidulous trees or whatever was part of a different question.

Anyway, I'm almost positive that 3 wrong would be an 800, in fact 4 or even 5 wrong probably would be as well.

yeah the answer to that question was competition

does anyone know the scale for Bio-E??

no, not M

no one knows any scale for the june test, getting 4 wrong on the may test was like a 770/780, and last june getting 6 wrong was an 800, scales change dramatically each test, for june I think it will be more toward what the scale we have been posting several times on this thread is. Bio-E and Bio-M won't have too many differences, maybe a slightly harsher curve for Bio-E, because for example I remember those 4 light spectrum questions on the end of Bio-M that I assume MANY MANY people messed up on.

if you took physics b4, it shouldnt be a problem.

i am CURRENTLY in AP Physics and I did not know any of those questions other than the one "plants do not absorb green light".

hmmm....interesting about the scales

I got the middle 2 out of the 4 right I GUESS cause I took physics before. The outer two, snake and insects, I didn't know. I put UV for the first one and infrared for the last one. It was the opposite :(.
