Biology vs. Biomedical Engineering

As a female, would it be easier to apply to Penn with the intent to do Biology as a major, or Biomedical Engineering?

If your interests line up, probably biomedical engineering. But bear in mind if you want to do pre-med or anything like that you’ll definitely want to be pursuing Biology because its easier to do well in. The schools that house the biology and biomedical engineering departments are separate (college of arts and sciences vs. engineering), so the main difference is that you would likely be evaluated more favorably as a female engineer than a general applicant to CAS.

Agree I think female engineers probably have it easier just cause they are in short supply.

Also keep in mind that it’s not hard to switch schools between CAS and SEAS, so don’t feel too pressured.
