<p>Many LACs are excellent in Economics, but they are not ranked because they do not publish as much. For example, Amherst, Carleton, Dartmouth, Oberlin, Pomona, Reed, Swarthmore, Wesleyan and Williams are as good as they come in Economics, but they are not ranked.</p>
<p>If you wish to double major in BME and Economics (lots of work but certainly doable), Cal-Berkeley, Duke, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Michigan, Northwestern, Penn, UCSD, UTA, UVA and Wisconsin are all awesome at both.</p>
