Hello everyone! Okay so to cut to the chase quickly… I am a rising junior in biomedical engineering at my University on the pre-med track. Being a doctor seemed like the most obvious thing to do for my whole life just because I couldn’t see myself doing anything else but also A LOT OF FAMILY PRESSURE…anyway I have finally cracked. I guess it was time to admit to myself that in reality I have never really had a passion for being a doctor. The past two years in college I have really lacked motivation but I feel like I have finally found a field I’m interested in and that is medical physics. This past spring a medical physicist came to talk to our class and I was completely hooked. I had looked into the field before but now actually being able to talk to someone in the field really opened my eyes and made me fall in love with it even more. Back when I was considering being a doctor I was interested in radiation or oncology so medical physics seems to be the best. My problem is that if I choose to switch majors it would be applied physics not physics itself. I do not know how this would look when applying to a graduate program. Also I have taken 3 semesters of calculus based physics and got B’s in all three (b-,b,b+) I do not know if I would be able to do upper level physics classes all I know is that I feel like I have finally found my passion. Also I would only be able to get two years experience tops working in medical physics research and may be able to shadow one. I do not know if this would suffice when applying to graduate programs. I love how I said this was going to be quick lol anyway thank you for taking the time to read and if you guys could offer any other tips it would be great! (:
