Birth Control...

I've read a lot of bad things about Depo Provera, but it's true, all BC have POTENTIAL side effects and it differs widely from person to person. With Depo though, your period basically goes away completely.

I use the patch and I haven't really experienced side effects...maybe a little weight gain (like 5lbs?) but overall it's wonderful because my periods are so on time and I don't have any cramps.

random thought...

anyone else notice this thread was started 5 months ago. when i saw it i remembered i put up a post...a long time ago....

You can thank soccerfanatic for reviving it.

The Pill made me incredibly depressed. I was taking it for medical reasons (abdominal pain that no one could diagnose). It was bad - I never had problems before then - no cramping, no pain, no PMS - and then I went on it and was crying for three weeks straight. Ugh.

You might try the ones with low hormones?

i've been considering birth control just b/c my period is SO irregular...its like really sporadic and i don't really play sports/high stress/high activity things so i've been worried about it for a while...plus the cramps suck...who knows if bc actually is the solution though...like everyone else said...talk to a gyn

as for telling your parents i would just be honest- talk to your mom about your concerns and reasons...i did and my mom is very supportive but i havent made any decisions yet...
