I have a D who will have a birthday next month at Rice. Any ideas for places that might deliver a cake, cupcakes, etc to Rice? Someone mentioned Crave cupcakes. Does Rice have somewhere on campus you can order? Thanks!

My daughter turned 18 in September and I really wanted to make it special since we could not be there. I spent hours on the internet trying to find where to get a cake delivered. Was not happy with the choices I was finding so - since she lives at Lovett I emailed the team there asking for suggestions- did not get any! Eventually I paid 50.00 to get a little tiny cake delivered. We got a great deal on the 2 dozen roses we sent though. And they lasted 2 weeks! Sorry I can’t help, hope you have better luck than I did. If you find some place let me know so I can use them this September. I even told friends that this was a great idea to start a business- delivering birthday cakes to college kids!

As someone who lives close to Rice (and a parent of a Rice alum), I suggest looking at Dessert Gallery. [Dessert Gallery Bakery Cafe | Houston](http://dessertgallery.com/) The cakes are fabulous (although not inexpensive) and it looks like they do local delivery. (I personally recommend the Diner Cake http://store.dessertgallery.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=54)

And if you want an alternative to a cake, this is a new home-baked, warm cookie bakery that delivers (and it looks like they can put it in a birthday box). [Tiff’s Treats](<a href=“Tiff's Treats”>http://www.cookiedelivery.com/)

Had a wonderful cake delivered to my s when he was at Rice (summer birthday- so was living off campus doing an internship.)

When I think of the name of the place, I’ll let you know :(

I’ve tried the cookie delivery place in Dallas, and if your D likes ice cream, the “TiffBlitz” ice cream treat is delicious, as are their cookies in general. I’ve gotten them delivered twice now in Dallas, and they were on time and fantastic, and I would hope/assume the franchise in Houston would be good as well. They also had a Groupon a couple weeks back, though I’m not sure if it’s still valid.

Thanks for the suggestions and ideas! I will be doing some calling around next week. I assume any deliveries are made to the college coordinator of each college?

For my Owl’s birthday I’ve sent cookies and unfrosted cupcakes with some packaged frosting too. It’s not the same as a birthday cake, but he still felt celebrated.

It seems like it would be easier to share cupcakes or cookies with friends; forks and plates aren’t needed. I think leftover cake would be more of a hassle than leftover cupcakes or cookies.

Here’s an idea for you – I know that various food trucks visit campus, and one of them is called Porch Swing Desserts. [:: Porch Swing Desserts ::](http://www.porchswingdesserts.com/) You could contact them and see if you could order a birthday cake (or several individual cakes/pies etc., which is what it looks like they specialize in) from them and see if they’d deliver to campus or have it picked up when they do visit.

I also used Dessert Gallery last year. My D said the cupcakes were delicious. They didn’t send the exact ones I ordered however, so I callled them. They apologized and said they would send her some more. It turned out that they sent another whole dozen for free!

nothing bundt cakes has a location in Houston - their cakes are great and most locations deliver!
