So something strange popped up in my "Where Am I In the Process?" site. So I got my blank line February 12, and I was accepted (so the blank line early is a good thing, I suppose). I didn't receive my fat package in the mail yet, but down in the section "Documents Sent" there recently appeared a line called "Decision Notification" dated February 10th. I'm guessing this relates to the blank line made 2 days later, but why was it posted so late? Does this just represent the fact that my decision was sent in the mail?

No real concerns, just wondering if this happened to anyone else.

Same here, only my blank line was 2/13 and the "Decision Notification" was apparently 2/11.

has anyone noticed how all the decisions so far are only accept or waitlisted? this kinda gives me a feeling that later waves are all rejection letters. I mean come on. The post office does not accept more than a certain amount of letters (according to some admission officer on the phone). But there are roughly 6600 people that get in and 20000 that don't. I'm sure 6600 would fit in the first wave

^ but even the people who were waitlisted somewhere were also accepted somewhere. I think the first wave consisted only no rejectees. next waves will probs/definitely have mixes. my two cents. :)

You can't base a conclusion off a small sample of not even 100 students who applied to one school. If you knew basic statistics, you would know this.

I also think rejected students are less likely to post their status.

no its true if you havnt been accepted you are probably rejected :(

SBTeaser. I do know statiscis cuz i am studying statiscis right now. this is a good

indicator of where the rest stands. CMU has an acceptance rate of about 25-28%. 59 is

quite a big sample. It's not a simple random sample but let's assume it is. If you got

accepted, you would most likely come here to share that. 17 people out of 59 indicated

that they got accepted. That's 28.8%. this sample acceptance rate is close to the

population acceptance rate.
