Hello Thank You For Checking This Thread Out.
I recently received my financial aid package for UC Irvine and this is how much aid I’m getting:
Estimated Cost of Attendance$33,220 / yr
Tuition and fees - $13,375
Housing and meals - 13,661
Books and supplies - 1,772
Transportation - 820
Other education costs - 3,592
Total Grants and Scholarships - $22,658 / yr
Grants and scholarships from your school - $6,299
Federal Pell Grant - 4,065
Grants from your state - 12,294
Other scholarships you can use - N/A
What will you pay for college
Net Costs - $10,562 / yr
(Cost of attendance minus total grants and scholarships)
Work options
Work-Study (Federal, state, or institutional) - $1,500
Loan Options*
Federal Perkins Loans $N/A
Federal Direct Subsidized Loan - 3,500
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan - 2,000
Other options
Family Contribution - $1,762 / yr
So from what I understand is that I will receive $22,658 / yr of “Free” Money and the rest ($10,562) I will have to pay through loans?
Also on the top it says this:
“It appears that you may be eligible for UC’s Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan. This plan ensures that your UC system-wide fees will be covered by scholarship and grant support not to exceed your financial need. Scholarship and grant support meeting this minimum commitment may come from the university, federal and state governments and/or private sources. Participation is limited to California residents or AB540-eligible students. For the eligibility requirements and more information about the Blue and Gold Opportunity Plan, please visit www.universityofcalifornia.edu/blueandgold/”
What exactly does this mean? Will I be able to get my tuition covered by this program? How will I know if I get accepted into this plan? Thank You! Sorry if this is a bit long
