can someone help me with number seven on page 549 . i know it's easy, bnut i cant figure it out

thanks in advance

If a, b, and c are different positive integers and (2^a)(2^b)(2^c) = 64, then (2^a) + (2^b) + (2^c) = ?

a. 14
b. 17
c. 21
d. 28
e. 34

(2^a)(2^b)(2^c) = 64 is the same as (2^(a+b+c)) = (2^6). That means that a+b+c = 6.

Because a b and c are different positive integers, what 3 positive integers add up together to equal 6? 3 2 and 1 do. Plug that in to the second equation.

(2^a) + (2^b) + (2^c) = ?
2^3 + 2^2 + 2^1 = ?
8 + 4 + 2 = 14.

Answer: a) 14
