Boarding School Selection

Hello,

We are fairly certain that our child will be attending Boarding School starting Fall 2015. We have researched schools via the web on sites like Boarding School 360 | Boarding School Guide | www.boardingschool360.com etc. Does anyone have any other recommendations?

Best,
Sally

The first two will help you widen your search of schools, as well as introduce you to the idea of it. The last two are student based websites that will give you an idea of life at boarding school. Hope this helps!

Visit the schools! They are very different in person and blend on paper. Visiting early is fine, just wander around and look.

Consider applying for the Carolyn Bradley scholarship in 7th grade.

Poke around here on CC. Kiddo may want to get involved in ECs like sports and music.

I was wondering what life is like at boarding schools? Like how dorm life is on weekends and after classes. Is it hard making friends, and are people friendly to new kids (I’d be a freshman if I went)? Thanks a ton!!

You may want to direct that question to the “prep school admissions” forum under the schools you are interested in. It would be hard to reply in a general way for “boarding schools” but you can check student posts about life at specific schools. Also, search by the school and see what students have posted before. Since this is the parent’s forum, your responses will be limited here.
