My brother died as the result of a brain bleed caused by a fall when he slipped on ice. He didn’t have a stroke until several weeks later, and he was on blood thinners. Even then, he seemed to be on his way to recovery before he had a second (final) stroke. He was in poor physical condition to begin with. Because of his experience, it really makes me wonder what happened to Bob Saget that caused damage great enough to kill him so quickly. I know two people who slipped and fell in the bathroom who died … it’s possible something similar happened to him, and it definitely could have caused confusion that would have clouded his judgment (my brother described feeling fine during his stroke, but not being able to get words out at the fast food drive thru). Also … my friend had vertigo when she recently had Covid. Something like that could have caused a fall. Of course, all speculation & we’ll never know.
A friend described vertigo as her worst Covid symptom.
But falls can happen anywhere. I think of the times I have fallen on ice and found myself looking up at the sky before I knew what happened.
Terrible, and so preventable. Why give TPA when you aren’t certain of the type of stroke?
My husband had a stroke in Switzerland, and they were unable to give him a Cat scan to verify it, apparently not enough staffing on the weekend. The doctor gave him a high dosage of blood thinner, regardless. When we called my husband’s doctor in the states, he said,”NO, don’t take it”, I’m assuming because they hadn’t verified what type of stroke it was.
If they don’t know, they shouldn’t guess.
Close friend’s brother had Covid but felt fine as he puttered around the house. At least, he felt fine until he didn’t. He fainted in the bathroom. His wife found him passed out on the floor. Needless to say he went straight to the ER at the point. No skull fracture, fortunately, but I thought of him when I heard Saget’s details. The friend’s brother was lucky to have no fractures but lucky for him he wasn’t alone (in a hotel) at the time either.
Three personal “related” comments just so people will be aware in the future and maybe be more attentive to a head injury…
-
When my S had Covid (he was vaccinated) before the holidays one of his main symptoms besides being so tired was dizziness. And that caused - he actually went to the urgent care because the dizziness was so bad he was concerned.

A few years ago my H slipped on ice on our driveway and hit his head. No one saw him (except the dog who was with him on the way to the car) and he never knew how long he was “out”. When he got up, dude got in the car and drove to get a newspaper! When he came home he was out of sorts and he sort of told the story but also he kept re-asking me questions. I took him to the ER - i think it was Christmas Eve day - and we were there A LONG time with them doing scans/tests. It was scary how he had no memory of some of the things that just happened to him even in the hospital. He ended up ok but we had to go back for a couple of scans as follow up.

Just this week we found out that my H’s nephew (about age 40?) died of a brain bleed. Supposively he was found out in his complex parking lot after midnight unconscious and bleeding. They claim he probably hit his head but so far, no indication of assault. Apparently they did surgery twice but they couldn’t stop the bleed. And on his last days they realized he was COVID positive. So scary similar to the Sages story.
When my sister in law fell and hit her head, the hospital insisted on doing a head scan. Thank God, because they found a tumor at the base of her skull (it had nothing to do do with her fall). They said she probably wouldn’t have had symptoms for another year and a half, and then it would have grown too much to be operable. Since they found it early, they were able to treat her successfully.
I told my husband that we will ALWAYS undergo any tests the professionals recommend in the case of a fall. If Natasha Richardson had been examined after her ski accident, she might still be alive today.
There’s evidence surfacing of potential foul play. There were multiple fractures going from the back of his skull all the way to his eye sockets. That kind of injury is consistent with a baseball bat to the back of his head. I’m sure there’s an another explanation, but that’s my conspiracy theory and I’m sticking to it.
I wonder if maybe he fell in the shower or tub or some small space and hit the back of his head and then hit the front when he tried to get up and then just made it as far as the bed before passing out.
And along with that, was he in his pjs tucked into bed, was he splayed across the bed wearing disheveled clothing, etc.
I’m not usually one to be suspicious or look past the obvious trying to find scandal, but this story is just very odd.
I can’t believe the police finding him with such severe injuries did not immediately suspect foul play and begin a thorough investigation. Injuries consistent with a blow from a baseball bat, would be very visible and not require an autopsy to decide something might be amiss.

We aren’t the only ones wondering….
I think that while it’s natural to wonder what the heck happened, it doesn’t change anything. Their loved one is dead. His family is exposed to speculation that prolongs the pain of their loss. I get why they want the information to remain private.
To clarify, they want any photos etc. to remain private. Some people have no shame or decency (think of Kobe Bryant’s tragic death).
Right, that is so disgusting. Everything in life does not need to be an open book. Celeb or not. Draw the line.
