Hi,
I've applied to a few schools as a math major or at a few a mechanical engineer.
I decided to take the Math II SAT subject test.
For some reason, when I signed up for the subject tests, I was under the impression that I had to sign up for at LEAST 2. Don't ask me why, I don't know why that assumption was implanted into my brain, so I also signed up for English Lit. By the time I'd figured out that I could've signed up for just one if I wanted to or I could've even just not taken the English subject test, it was too late because I had already submitted my college apps and had said that I had planned to take the English lit test.
I just got my scores, and I BOMBED the English test. I mean, really bombed, I got a freaking 440. I've never gone below the 500s on any of the SATs I've taken.
So now I'm freaking out, because the scores have already been sent. Since it's not a subject related to my major whatsoever, and since none of the schools I applied to even required the subject tests, I was hoping that maybe it wouldn't hurt me that much? Can someone please confirm or refute this? Because now I'm really freaking out that I messed up my chances for college...
If it helps, I applied to two UCs (none of the prestigious ones like Berkley, LA, or SD) and a few Cal States.

You should be fine. Since it’s been sent, I wouldn’t worry about it.

Hey you know what? You’re probably fine. So don’t worry about it. Colleges aren’t going to sit there and obsess over a single score that you send.

If you’re not fine though, it’s too late to change anything. So just let whatever happens happen and hope for the best :).

Good luck.
