I don’t know if anyone has heard of it, but I had to read a book by Ron Suskind, a Pulitzer Prize winning author, called, “A Hope In the Unseen”. It was about a young black man named Cedric Jennings who gets a scholarship to Brown and his experiences there. You might not be in his shoes, so to speak, but it was very interesting to hear about his views on the school, kids and professors. The author did a great job and you felt like you were walking with him. He definitely felt the gap of race and money, but overcame a lot and was “in a groove” by his Junior year. He overheard a lot of negative comments about racism and scholarships, but he stuck with it and turned a lot of things around. A great book to read when you feel like things are tough for you and I liked the peek into Brown that I wouldn’t really get to see on a visit.

Absolutely, I also read the book and really enjoyed it. It just goes to show that Brown also looks at the total package and potential in admissions.

hmmm i'll definitely give it a try.

anything about Brown is bound to be spectacular!!! :):):):):):):):):)
