<p>That figure is on the high side. My son budgets about $1300 per semester, but in addition to books and supplies, the amount also covers personal expenses (toiletries, haircuts, laundry, dry cleaning) and entertainment (movies, late night pizza, beer). He buys his books used on Amazon, so the total cost for books and supplies per semester is about $400. He spends another $400 on taking girls out on dates and another $400 on beer, pizza, the occasional zip car. He might spend about $100 on haircuts toothpaste etc.</p>
