Hey all,
I'm a freshman at Carleton College and going to be an Econ major. I was accepted to the Booth Summer Scholars Program, but I'm a little bit skeptical about going to it. It costs $6,300 for just three weeks. I was wondering if anyone could tell me more about it and whether they think it was worth the money. Also, if it has helped them on their career path or getting internships. I would love to hear about the general experience people had with it and how beneficial they think it was/will be in their futures. Thanks!

As an alum of the program, here is what I can say from my experience:

The only thing you gain from this is a network of 30+ students from around the world and a fun 3 weeks in Chicago. Classes are a joke, you can’t teach an entire course in a week, so essentially they will cram you with information. The professors then realize the problem behind this, and some of the exams are open book/open computer. What a joke.

You visit 3 companies (United, BCG, and a Film Studio), but it isn’t a networking event, merely a presentation of what the firm does. In fact, BCG analysts even told students in the program that if we don’t recruit from your school, don’t bother applying!

You are much better doing an unpaid internship at a boutique investment bank. Don’t waste your time.
