Boston College or American University?

I got into both and they are giving me similar offers

Boston College (cost of attendance = 57,000)
$36,000 grant
$2,400 work to study
$4,000 sub and unsub

American University (cost of attendance = 54,000)
$34,000 grant
$2,000 work to study
$3,000 sub and unsub

I know that both are really great deals but which ones the taker? Au is cheaper but BC is more prestige? Which one would you take?

They offer two completely different types of experiences. What is your intended major? Do you like spectator sports? Will you be put off by the Jesuit philosophy at BC? Do you like Boston or DC better?

Im majoring in biology and I live in DC which is a major drawback to why im favoring BC. I love sporting events and im an athlete my self. I dont know much about the jesuit philosophy but im muslim myself. I dont know how religious the school would be but i wouldn’t mind learning about other religions as long as they dont force me to actually participate in it.

If you like sports, then BC is definitely the way to go. Awesome school spirit. D1 sports, club sports and strong intramurals. Boston is an awesome City in which to attend college.

The BC community is extremely welcoming to folks of all faiths, including agnostics. Nevertheless, BC is ~70% Catholic. The Core curriculum requires a theology course, but you can fulfill that in numerous ways, including Comparative Religion or studying non-Christian religions. Religious services are offered on campus, but the attendance is only high when parents come to visit.

BC has recently revamped its bio program, and even the Frosh now participate in a real research project. Great for premed/pre-health. BC is definitely worth a serious look.

thank you soo much, im definitely going to consider Boston College now! Time for the campus visit!
