So I have narrowed down my options at the moment, and I am considering between these two schools. I have not visited BC, but I am in the process of trying to convince my parents to go see it. Tulane gave me 30k per year scholarship and honors college, but I am not sure that Tulane is the right fit for me. As a premed I understand the need to save money, but if I end up visiting BC and love it, is it worth the extra $100,000 for being in an area where I am comfortable and happy?
$100k is nothing to sneeze at. Because you love something doesn’t mean it is good for you compared to alternatives.
No, BC is not worth the extra cost.
I think if BC has a medical school and they accepted you in an accelerated program with guarantee admission to medical school than yes… BUT since BC doesn’t have a medical school I’d say no! Go to Tulane ? save where you can plus Boston is expensive (well compared to when I went to BU)
Everything being equal, I would go with BC over Tulane. But things are not equal here. Unless $$$ are not a factor at all and you end up LOVING BC beyond explanation, Tulane would be a very good choice here. Excellent school, and I would say pretty close to BC academically. Plus, as a pre-med, you need to be looking beyond the horizon. An excellent performance at Tulane will get you where you want to be…with $100,000 in your pocket.
Apples to apples you could make the case for Boston College these days for sure. The extra 100k makes it apples to Bentley’s.
And I have a d at BC and think it’s wonderful. Tulane is great too. So go have a ball and save the money.
