Boston College transfer

Hi, so I want to transfer to BC in 2021 which will by my junior year. I decided to finish Sophmore year at my current school (university of Tulsa). I just wanted to have some input on my stats. I applied for BC in high school and was waitlisted but then rejected.

High school GPA: 3.9
ACT: 27
College GPA: 3.5
EC: President of Red Cross Club, Treasurer of and helped charter the Psychology Club, elected Treasurer of Chem Honor club, and member of the association of black collegians club. I am joining the national guard to serve the community and learn hands on eperience in the med field. I also do work-study and will begin research at a brain institute sophomore year. I’m also creating a blog this summer focused on the African American community in America.

I am an African American female, major Biochem and psychology minor, I am pre-med. I believe I have a good reason to change colleges. My school is currently transitioning to become a technical school and is cutting a lot of arts programs. I attend a university that is majority white and racism is a big issue on campus (was a poster on campus stating “white is right, black is wack”). I’m a pre-med student and I’m interested in neuroscience, my unv. does not have that as a major option. Finally cost, I’m an out of state student and my unv. is raising its tuition.

My GPA first semester was not its best due to family issues and transitioning to college. However my second semester GPA is a 3.9, I received all A’s and one B putting me on the honor roll and rasing my overall GPA to a 3.5. I hope BC sees the upward trend in GPA and my EC activities.

Let me know what you think and thank you for any advice. (sorry it’s so long)!!

FYE: BC is where I want to attend, however my second option in NYU. I’m from the east coast and want to attend school closer to home. It will decrease my travel cost by a lot.

If cost is an issue, then you need to add more schools to your transfer list.

Make sure to apply as a transfer to one or two public / state school options where you qualify for resident rates.
