Just wondering everyone’s different opinions!
Catholic/secular
everyone that goes to Colby seems to love it. It’s in the middle of no-where but supposed to have amazing teachers. I’m not sure about BC but the location is fantastic.
They attract similar types of students. Biggest differences will be location/size and LAC vs university(even though it calls itself a college) BC will have a bigger rah rah sports focus and will be more community service oriented. Colby - more outdoorsy and tighter knit community.
Which one is more gay friendly?
@senior98392849 My guess is Colby, but I could be completely wrong.
My understanding is they are both gay friendly. We had a gay student tour us at BC and he loved it there. Colby just seems welcoming of everyone.
“Everyone’s” opinions really don’t matter. The first question that you have to answer is LAC or mid-sized Uni? Could you call either “home” for four years?
What is your intended major? LAC’s do certain things really well, but don’t offer as many options as a mid-sized Uni.
@bluebayou
Thank you for your opinion…however, I wasn’t planning on taking others’ opinions into account unless they offered groundbreaking information, which they didn’t. I was simply curious about others’ views and opinions about the two schools.
Since posting, I have gone to admitted eagle day for Boston College (Sunday) and visited Colby (yesterday). Although Colby is a wonderful school with incredible opportunities, I was not comfortable with the idea of attending Colby College as the student body is quite different from what I am used to, and I don’t think I could deal with being so far up in Maine (the drive confirmed that Colby is just too far for me).
As for your major question, I am a hopeful French and music double major, and hope to take part in a cappella groups and theater outside of class.
Another aspect of BC that I really loved when I visited was actually the school’s ties to Catholicism and Ireland. Being Catholic myself, the hints of religion comforted me quite a bit to be honest.
