I know these places are very different in terms of size, setting, etc., but in terms of what looks strongest on a resume, what would you say? I would major in political science at either and would be happy at both. Just trying to analyze it this way.
Do NOT, I repeat do NOT, establish a college list based on your future resume. These schools could not be any more different. Either will get you where you want to go if you put in the effort. If you are anything like the other 17 year olds looking at colleges, there is a very good likelihood that your choice of major will change, sometimes considerably so. My D was set on a bio or biochem major and will graduate with a double Math/CS major. Keep your options open.
Agree with NEPatsGirl (great name by the way!). That said, make sure you pick a school that is solid in your primary interest (it may not change or it may, who knows). In this case both are good in many things. Although they are quite different, they both share the great advantage of giving you access to Boston for social and professional opportunities.
Make sure you know what you like because they are about 180 degrees apart in terms of setting, campus feel, school spirit centered around D1 sports. I have two kids. One would love one and have no interest in the other AND vice versa. Funny, my S is a freshmen. He really wanted BC but wasn’t accepted. He applied to BU more to be in Boston than anything. Was accepted. Thought about it and decided on a school that was more similar to BC, just not in Boston, as that campus feel, student body, etc was really important to him. He loves his choice,so feel is important.
