Wow, a 2300 is amazing!! Honestly… I think you’d be pretty solid for them so long as you have a decent amount of volunteer work and all… like first aid volunteering or something that’s healthcare-related.

I got into SMED without research, although most other SMEDS in my year have experience with it. I was a volunteer EMT for my town ambulance squad, did shadowing, and volunteered at a hospital though.

Did any of you (for those who got into SMED) get the interview notification in February? I didn’t receive a notification yet, so I’m assuming I wasn’t selected for the first round. Hoping I still get into the second…

I found out about my interview last year in early January. Like neoevolution, I got in without having research experience, though I had a lot of leadership at school and a lot of medical-related activities such as shadowing, mini-med, and community service. Agreed with neoevolution in that they test you in “social” ways… they seem to put you in a random/stressful situation to see how you cope- but I’ve also heard they do it so that you start fresh for the interview and forget any random stuff you memorized so you can instead just be yourself (I hope that makes sense… it made sense in my head but I didn’t word it very well… sorry). As for the trustee scholarship, I hate to say it but I think SMEDs very rarely get it since they know you’ll come there even without the money because of the guaranteed med school acceptance. Based on stats alone, I think all SMEDs should qualify for it… if they weren’t SMED. if you look at acceptance threads from previous years, people with 2100 SAT would get the scholarship whereas it seems like you need a 2300+ to even interview for SMED. Just my two cents on the situation.

Hey guys!

Boston U informed me about the interview this week. I was wondering if you guys know the format (group/individual)? Also, what do you mean by random/stressful social situations?

Thanks!

Has anyone talked with the BU office recently? Have all finalists been invited to interview?

I believe they are just about done…

I just called and they did not pick up. ill call again tomorrow.

they picked up- we have until the 15th

no phone call from BU yet ? anyone getting phone call for interview ?

Tomorrow is last day for call for interview.

BU better be pulling a “lolz” moment and just not calling us until the last day- I hope :(

I was told that the notifications will go out till the end of next week. There are 2 more interview sessions still to be held. Each with 15 students. Some of those students have already been notified while others will be notified by the end of next week.

no i’m pretty sure tomorrow is the last day. if i don’t get a call tomorrow i’ll call again to see what they say, but every time i’ve called so far they seem to be saying that the 15th is their deadline.

@tlulla, yes I also called and they told me today is the final deadline. @retro, where did you hear that?

That is what they told me when I called yesterday.

Anyone hear from bu?
