*Boston University Class Of 2016: Regular Decision Thread*

Never turned in senior year grades because I withdrew my application. Got rejected anyway xD
Congrats to all those who got in though! For those who did not, don’t worry, this is just one college.

accepted!
2070 sat
30 act
3.7/4.1 weighted
10 k deans scholarship

re: post #344, skipflipdip’s prior posted stats of 26 ACT, 590 CR, 600M, 590 W, 3.5 unweighted would NOT seem to merit the cursory claim of a $30K award, unspecified.
And since BU is not a school that meets 100% of student need I respectfully don’t believe it is a need-based award.

The same P’s claim to have rec’d a call and offer of admission yesterday because of the individual’s minority status would seem disrespectful of the very diverse BU community which is made up of many URMs.

It would seem uncharacteristic of BU to selectively notify minorities as this P has claimed.

Should BU have chosen to do something similar, such a notification could be included on the applicant link, as they have for decisions, merit awards, financial aid awards, and other communication such as letters from respective deans, and would reach all URMs equally.

Respectfully, Mr. VC

3.5 GPA/4.5 HPA from a top magnet school in the nation
34 ACT
680 community service hours (300 ABROAD starting my own summer project)

8 AP classes with an average on 4.25 on my exams
IB Student with 6 IB exams at the end of this year

Accepted to Tulane Honors -25K/ year (maximum merit scholarship)
Accepted to Northeastern Honors -20K/ year (maximum merit scholarship)

And then now I found out I have been placed on a waitlist from BU, after getting rejected from schools I thought I had an average shot at like UNC and Northwestern

I’m sorry if I sound annoying or overbearing but I definetly did not think I would get waitlistd from BU. I worked my ass of in high school and took AP Physics, AP Calculus, AP US Government, AP English Lang, AP English Lit, AP Physics C, etc. I played varsity volleyball and varsity water polo while also competing in various club level sports

Goes to show you can’t take anything for granted, but honestly congrats to everyone who got in with all that scholarship money, that is amazing
I would do anything to be in your place since I have no clue how I’m gonna be covering the rest of my college tuition fees. Sigh

@zachb supposedly 44,000 people applied and only 3,900 got in. Thats like 8%. How is this possible? Collegeboard says 49%.

Waitlisted

ACT: 31
1300 community service
two varsity sports

lol i was def surprised

Accepted
3.2 unweighted 5.7 weighted
IB Program, hardest curriculum you can imagine.
560 writing 620 math 680 reading
best EC’s in class (medical mission in a third-world country, three sports I excelled at, numerous clubs, over 400 hours all throughout high school)

accepted to: University of Miami, University of Central Florida, University of South Florida
denied: University of Florida
deferred: Tulane University

UF was a weird situation because my interest level was never high for it and there was a problem with my essays. They could probably tell I was using it as a backup since everyone in my class was denied from University of Miami and accepted to UF (their top choice since some said they couldn’t afford UM). UM is my top choice and as of now I think I will attend but Boston University sounds like a nice choice! Looking more into it.

Hey i was accepted to BU today. Does anyone know how i could find out if i was offered merit aid? Or would it have said so in the acceptance letter…?

Accepted with $52000 in aid!

After rejections from a couple of colleges…and admission to her state university, we are thrilled that she has been accepted to BU. $33,500 grant makes it really possible for her to attend.

SAT - 2080
GPA - 4.0 UW

3 years of student government (president)
300 community service volunteer hours
Link Crew Leader

Lots of hard work…finally paying off!!! Very exciting!

Same at #364
I was waitlisted here, after being rejected at schools I thought I would get into and waitlisted at others, not a good week.

3.6/4.01 gpa

@mustang2012 Merit or need based?

Accepted!

Hey everyone, are decisions coming by mail or are they online?

For the people who received merit aid, how did you find out? Was it in the letter or somewhere else. Please help! This will be a major consideration for me. I like UMass Amherst, but I absolutely adore BU.

Accepted!
GPA-3.9
SAT-2100
10 APs by graduation, only 5s so far.
Good ECs

Accepted
SATs: 1350 w/o writing 1930 w/ writing

27/385 class rank
congratulations to everyone accepted and im sorry for those who didnt just yesterday i got denied from unc and uva so i feel for you

brb061494, my daughter’s page had a link to a merit award page and a financial aid page right with the link to the admission letter.

JayIvy, you have to take into account that only a minority of those admitted actually enroll.

That was a little surprising. I did not expect to be denied from a school like BU but admitted to a school like GWU. Oh well.
