Boston University RD 2023

Mine still says “our records indicate” on the second page … getting rather worried that this means something bad

@aliberatori19 so does mine. thank you is only when i first log in

why is everyone freaking out about the thank you thing, what does it mean

I got it too. But I don’t think it mean anything.

i think it’s only indicative for ED

Oh no. Not this again.

@Trixy34 hahaha

Hi everyone I just want to inform all of you guys about what does the “thank you” message mean on application portal. My English teacher has a cousin who works in BU admission office. I asked my teacher if she could ask her cousin if the “thank you message” means anything and she said that it was not a indication of your decision. But it’s a sign that the admission office has reviewed your application and already made a final decision for you. Someone said it’s a indication in ED round, which makes sense because BU only denies a small percentage of applicants during ED round. Most people who didn’t get in were deferred. And if it’s deferred it means that they haven’t made a final decision for you since your application will be reviewed again in RD round. Only people get accepted and denied means their final decisions have been made. And since there are only few people got denied in ED round, most people who got “thank u message” got accepted, so it looks like the “thank u” message is a sign of acceptance. But it’s really not. Don’t freak out about that if you didn’t get one, it just means they haven’t started reviewed your profile yet.

@aaron551631 Impressing! So does this work for RD?

@aaron551631 very helpful! thank you so much! should the thank you message appear when you log in and when you click on application status if they have finished your application? or does it just appear when you first log in on the home page?

Yeah right.

So this is only for the ppl who Ed’ed

@NJMAN2500 i believe so!

@TomSrOfBoston why are you so pessimistic? they’re just adding a very common theory that is most likely to be true. given the amount of responses that you have and the many different forums I’ve seen you on, it doesn’t seem to me like you are a student so I understand if you want to contribute to be helpful but there’s no use to be rude. this page is just a bunch of nervous parents and students who are hoping to get in to BU. I feel that if you have nothing positive to contribute to the discussion, don’t try and bring down others in a rude way.

Hi, someone may have answered this already, but does anyone know what time the portal tells us our decision?

@sleepysloths The ED thread had over 2000 posts from students speculating about what the wordings meant. It increased the anxiety ad stress and there was no real correlation to the actual results. My positive contribution to this discussion is a suggestion to relax and enjoy the next few days until the decisions are released on Saturday.

@TomSrOfBoston - You read my mind!

@TomSrOfBoston I understand that but maybe next time instead of being rude to people, word your comments in a positive and nice way. When someone is this stressed out, having a random stranger be rude to them just makes things worse.

In defense of TomSrOfBoston, I think he was just expressing skepticism (not pessimism) regarding a third-hand claim about what the “thank” you message means. That said, I do think it is likely that the change means a final determination has been made about your application, but that doesn’t tell you what the determination is. In any event, we will all find out soon enough.

Has BU said what time on Saturday March 23rd to expect RD?

I searched this discussion, but couldn’t find this info.
